Πανταζόπουλος Γιώργος
George Pantazopoulos graduated from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1992 with a specialization in Materials Science (with a rank considered as equivalent to “summa cum laude”). He obtained his Ph.D. from the Mechanical Engineering Department of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in the field of Manufacturing Technology and Processing of Advanced Materials in 1999. He served so far in the metals industry for more than twenty (22) years as a Quality Control Engineer, as a senior R&D project leader and recently as Technology and Quality Manager at ELKEME Hellenic Research Centre for Metals S.A. His principal scientific research interests are focused on the field of failure and fracture analysis, materials processing and manufacturing, machinability, mechanical testing, and tribology. He is the author and co-author of more than 160 papers in the above areas in International Journals and Conferences, as well as 2 books and various monographs/book chapters while he was an invited lecturer in Conferences and Academic Institutions (h>15, total citations excluding self-citations > 700). He serves as a member of various International Conferences’ Scientific Committees, as a Subject Editor/Editorial Board member and reviewer in International Journals in the field of materials science/engineering and failure analysis. He is the recipient of various awards and distinctions including a best technical paper award and a dissertation thesis prize.
